NG vs WST Dream11: Since major European basketball leagues and even the NBA is in their final stages, we can shift our attention towards other leagues, and what better way to do it than by dialing it into the ongoing leagues, one of them being the New Zealand Basketball League. In this game of the NZBL, the Nelson Giants will host the Wellington Saints.
The Giants are the third-best team in the standings, compiling five wins in eight games. In their last game, they lost to the Franklin Bulls 69:77 with the team shooting below 34%. On the other hand, the Saints walk into the game after a tough start to the season, winning just three of their eight games. However, they have pulled things a bit, with two wins in a row. They defeated Southland Sharks 96:86 as Mike Smith nabbed 30 points and Xavier Cooks bagged 24 rebounds.

NZBL Projections, Stats & Analysis
Saints are crawling up
The Saints have built a terrific offensive squad and now the wins are finally following. They have a lot of scoring options and even though their defense has been among the bottom, they can thrive in shootout scenarios. Xavier Cooks and Mike Smith have been two amazing options on the offensive end whereas Cooks has been incredible rebounding. A supporting cast of Tuffins, Samuel, and Vodanovich has also been doing its job. Can the team become better defensively?
Giants’ offense may need some work
Contrary to the Saints, the Giants’ issue stems on the offensive end. Their defense has been tight but they have lost their way quite a bit recently, is the situation alarming though? It isn’t, to be honest, but yes, they need to be more efficient. Trey Mourning has been the scoring leader, with around 20+ points a game, Jarrod West has been leading in assists whereas both Mourning and Samuel Dempster have been the rebounding backbone.
