The Sky are the defending champions and they have surely played like one, winning 13 of their 18 games and strangely, they look even stronger than the last season. They come into this game after clinching a close 88:85 win against the Minnesota Lynx. On the other hand, the Connecticut Sun has done an amazing job as well and has clinched 13 wins in 19 games. They hit some hiccups in the middle but then pulled off a strong 72:61 win against the Dream as Courtney Williams exploded for 17 points. Who will come on top in this exciting battle?

Sky’s depth is scary

The Sky has built a loaded roster. There are few or rather no teams with as much as ball movement as the Sky and with Messeman, Vandersloot, and Parker, the team has a lot of players to handle the scoring and playmaking duties. Messeman’s addition has bolstered an already intimidating Forward position and she has brought careful shot selection and an all-around repertoire. As a bonus, Rebekah Gardner has brought amazing energy off the bench while Quigley and Stevens act as strong subsidiary scoring. The overall defense is tight with the team able to both physically dislocate opponents while also closing in on shooters.

Sun has some issues but they can improve

The Sun has been strong so far this season and the return of Alyssa Thomas and Courtney Williams have helped the pace, but the concern is that the team can get stagnant on the offensive end and waste too much motion at times. Jonquel Jones has been not in her prime form whereas Hiedeman has been a tad inconsistent. Bonner has gotten it done whereas Brionna Jones has been a strong factor off the bench. The Sun needs to become better in terms of scoring the ball at this point or they will be exposed to teams like the Aces or the Sky in the Playoffs.
