List of PKL Winners: Jaipur Pink Panthers won the inaugural season
After beating U Mumba in the first season’s final, Jaipur Pink Panthers were crowned the champions. The inaugural champions have since not won the competition, but have all the tools to succeed in the coming seasons of Pro Kabaddi League to recapture the glory.
The disappointment of the final defeat did not last long as U Mumba would return to the final next year in 2015 and win their first title as they beat Bengaluru Bulls in a tight contest.
However, it was a third time unlucky for the Mumbai-based franchise as they lost in the final, having made a hat-trick of final appearances. They failed to live up to expectations in the final and were beaten by Patna Pirates. They missed out on the tag of the first team to defend the PKL title having lost the final.
The Pirates would then become the first team in history to defend the PKL title when they beat Jaipur Pink Panthers in the next season’s final. The Pirates then made a hat-trick of wins when they got the better of Gujarat Fortune Giants in a one-sided contest to win the third consecutive title.
It was the second time unlucky for the Gujarat Fortune who would lose in the final of the seventh season, after losing a close contest to Bengaluru Bulls in the final.
The next season saw Bengal Warriors win outclass Dabang Delhi in the final as they lost a narrow contest. However, they did not have to wait for a long time as they won the title in the eighth season of the PKL beating Patna Pirates by a point.
