They say raiders are always the ones who take garner more points for their side. This statement is somehow correct but this doesn’t mean the significance the defenders have on this game is anything to go by.
Here, we will be talking about some of the best defenders we will witness to see in Pro Kabaddi League 2019.
Girish Maruti Ernak (Puneri Paltan)
This has been the name which has made all the right noises in the world of Kabaddi when it comes to defense. The skipper of Puneri Paltan got 56 tackle points to his name in the last season.
He took 6 tackle points in a match twice which were garnered by 4 super tackles and high 5s.
Fazel Atrachali (UMumba)
If youngster Siddharth Sirish Desai was the cornerstone of Umumba’s raiding department, it was skipper Fazel Atrachali who kept everything in balance in the defense.
The Iran skipper was at his sublime best as he took 83 raid points against his name with an impressive tackle strike rate of 63.84. On his course to 83 raid points, he took 6 high 5s and 3 super tackles.
Nitesh Kumar (UP Yoddha)
It was a breathtaking season for UP Yoddha’s defender Nitesh Kumar last time around. The Green arm-band holder finished with 100 tackle points to his name which was the most for any defender in a single season of Pro Kabaddi League.
His terrific run included 8 super tackles and 8 high 5s and the average tackle points per match were 3.68.

Surender Nada (Patna Pirates)
The veteran defender’s last season was cut short due to an injury as he could only appear in the opening match for Haryana Steelers. Season five was where he came to his own for the very first time in PKL history bagging 80 tackle points.
On his comeback for a new franchise, the only thing on his radar would be to deliver with the best of his abilities.
Surjeet (Puneri Paltan)
After representing Bengal Warriors for two straight years, PO Surjeet will be donning Puneri Paltan’s jersey in this season for the very first time.
He has been one of the veterans of Pro Kabaddi League and has taken 215 tackle points from just 73 matches. With no added responsibility of captaincy, Surjeet can focus on his real game this season.
