Pro Kabaddi: Anup Kumar hangs his boots after 15 years of professional career

The Bonus King and India’s world cup winning captain Anup Kumar announced his retirement with immediate effect. He began his international career in 2006 in South Asian games, Sri Lanka. During his tenure as a captain, Indian team became the World Champion in 2016.
Kumar helped the sport to grown in the country many times by taking part in the competitions and the Pro version of the game. Right now, he is with Jaipur Pink Panthers, but he was not in the final seven in so many matches. As the league is reaching its last page, Anup Kumar is also mapping his life, and now he wants to be a family man for a while.
“When I became part of Kabaddi, I was invested in the sport because I liked it and it was a great hobby, over the years it became the most important part of my life. I remember the day I started playing Kabaddi professionally, I had just one dream, to represent my country and bring a gold medal, and I am one of the few lucky people who had the opportunity to fulfil the most important dream of my life.”
Anup heap praises the Pro Kabaddi and its impact on the ground. Anup quoted, Today with the Pro Kabaddi, it helped the sport to grow in the country, and I am happy to be a part of it. This has been an essential part of my life.

What Kabaddi fraternity feels for him?
Anup is also regarded as a great player who is good with timing. U Mumba’s owner Ronnie Screwvala said he is not surprised with the decision Anup made. He is an intelligent player, and he is very good with timing. Retirement is not the end of life, but it is the beginning of another challenge.
