Former skipper Surender Nada to join Haryana Steelers as Assistant Coach
After sustaining an injury, Surender Nada was ruled out of the sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League and now the star raider has been roped in as the new assistant coach of the Haryana Steelers for the remaining season.
This change comes after the previously appointed Assistant coach Narender Kumar gave his resignation for resuming his services. Nada suffered an injury in the opening game this season which prompted the management to appoint Monu Goyat as the skipper of the team. Now Nada will be guiding the team as the assistant coach of the franchise.
Surender Nada braces a new stint
On being asked about his new role, an elated Nada said, “Injuries are a part and parcel of the game and I know it very well. However, even after injury, I was eager to remain associated with the team in one way or the other. The management decided to appoint me as a mentor and an advisor and I am happy with my new role.”

“I would be working with the defenders for this season. Our team looks slightly unsteady and I look forward to utilizing my years of experience and knowledge to work on it,” he added.
Head coach Rambir Singh Khokhar said, “Boys respect him a lot and he has been a part of our team since last season, I am sure he will have a positive impact on the team.”
He also emphasized the benefits that Nada brings to the table.
“Surender Nada has been one of the strongest defenders for the country and we could have found anyone better than him for the position.”
Will Haryana Steelers thrive under Nada?
Haryana Steelers managed to outplay Patna Pirates in their last fixture by 43-32 in Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna where Naveen scored 12 points while Vikas Khandola scored 10 points.
Having lost 6 of the 9 games played, currently, Haryana Steelers are placed on the third place in Zone A with 16 points and they would hope for a better run under Nada in the tournament.
