Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman believes that their new Skipper Kane Williamson would be able to fill David Warner’s shoes.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is all set to begin their IPL campaign from 9 April at their home ground at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Ahead of the game, VVS Laxman told in an interview that the experience and depth that Kane Williamson brings to the game would overcome Warner’s absence.
Warner, who has been barred from the IPL for a season after being banned by the CA for his involvement in the ball-tampering was replaced by Kane Williamson as their skipper
Laxman whole-heartedly welcomed the move and showed high confidence in the New Zealand skipper leading the franchise smoothly.
“We have prepared well despite the heavy rain in Hyderabad. We make quite good bids at the auctions and we emerged as stronger and a well-rounded side after that,” he said.
“The loss of David Warner is quite unfortunate, but we still feel that we have the resources to mount a strong challenge,” he added.
Sunrisers still boasts of a strong batting line-up with the likes of Williamson, Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Shakib Al Hasa, Wriddhiman Saha, Alex Hales and Yusuf Pathan.
They also possess efficient bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Chris Jordan, Billie Stanlake and Sandeep Sharma who can turn the games in favour of Hyderabad.
Talking more about the format of the T20 league he said ,”T20 is all about momentum and getting on a roll.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad takes on Rajasthan Royals on Monday and Laxman is expecting a full house at Uppal.
