Shikhar Dhawan special handed Sunrisers Hyderabad a winning start in the eleventh edition of IPL. Together with captain Kane Williamson, the left-hander stitched 121-run partnership to deflate returning Rajasthan Royals and chased down the target of 126 in 15.5 overs. The India opener scored 77, while skipper chipped in with 36 runs.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowlers put on a tremendous show with the ball to strangulate Rajasthan Royals’ innings and deny them the best of starts on their return to IPL. After putting RR in to bat first, SRH got rid of debutant D’Arcy Short early in the innings. Apart for Rahane-Samson’s second wicket partnership of 48, RR innings never got going.
Pacer Siddharth Kaul was the pick of the bowlers to return with an economical 2/17, while Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid also being among the wickets.
