Bengaluru – It was a special effort from Sanju Samson on the first of Sunday’s doubleheader that gave Rajasthan Royals their second straight win. After a couple of 40+ scores in the competition, Samson did not make the same mistake to throw it away but batted on to smash 92 runs off 45 balls, studded with 10 big sixes and thoroughly entertained the M.Chinnaswamy crowd.
In reply, Royal Challengers did not get off to a good start losing McCullum early in the chase. However, the chase was on after de Kock put on a 77-run partnership with Kohli for the second wicket. RCB skipper lost de Kock at the end of eight over but made V Kohli a blazing 57 off 30 balls.
Mandeep did make an effort lower down the order, but it was not enough in the end to take his side home and RCB fell short by 19 runs. With the ball, Gopal was the most impressive of RR bowlers returning with the figures of 2/22.
