Chandigarh – The second match of the Sunday doubleheader gave much to the cricket fans, producing a close encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab. In the end, the vintage Dhoni effort was not enough to get past Kings XI’s total.

CSK skipper made unbeaten 79 runs off 44 balls battling through an injury to lead the charge after a shaky start chasing a big total. Rayudu was the other contributor to team CSK, chipping in with 49 runs. For KXIP, Andrew Tye picked 2 wickets for 47 while Mujeeb Ur Rahman bowled economically to choke the flow of runs.

Earlier, Gayle made his Kings XI debut with a whirlwind innings, slamming 63 runs off 33 balls while KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair also coming good with the bat for KXIP. For CSK, Imran Tahir picked 2 wickets with the ball.
