Former Indian coach Gary Kirsten has praised Virat Kohli in an interview given to the Times of India. Gary Kirsten and RCB skipper Virat Kohli have reunited once again to turn the fortunes of the team.
Virat’s first international coach who has witnessed Virat’s journey to glory believes that Kohli has become the great player that he believed him to be.
“It’s been an amazing progression. As he moves into his next phase, Virat has gone up from the prodigious talent to the high performer,” he said.
“Now the challenge for him is to maintain consistency for a long period of time and to further hone his skills,” he added.
Kohli made an international debut ten years ago and he soon became a popular name of the game.
“Any guy with even a little knowledge about cricket could have said that he was going to be a terrific player. His hunger for runs, his ball-striking ability and his ability to hit the ball to all parts of the ground was exceptional,” the former India coach said.
“It is great to be working with Virat again because he started off his career when I was his coach. We had a lot of conversations early in his career about how he should set up his game and maintain his consistency,” he added.
Although RCB has got a rough start in the tournament, it remains to be seen if the duo of Kohli and Kirstern can bring them in the race or not.
