Match Result: Mumbai Indians won by 102 runs
Kolkata – It was a repeat of Mumbai Indians’ win over Kolkata Knight Riders just three days ago, although the quantum was much bigger this time.
Mumbai Indians, put into bat first, took control of the match from the outset. In-form opener Suryakumar gave his team an excellent start. But, it was Ishan Kishan’s onslaught – 62 runs off 21 balls – including four consecutive sixes off Kuldeep that set the tone for a big total. Ben Cutting’s cameo, 9-ball 24, propelled the visitors to 210.
In reply, KKR had a terrible start losing Narine on the second ball of the innings. The Knight Riders’ innings never got any momentum and the wickets kept falling like a house of cards. None of the batsmen could handle the scoreboard pressure and their misery ended on 108.
With the win, Mumbai Indians have displaced Kolkata Knight Riders on the fourth place.
