Chris Gayle has remained an integral part of the IPL since its inception.
After spending three seasons with the Kolkata Knight Riders he went unsold in 2011, but he has he earned a late-season call from the Royal Challengers Bangalore after their left-armer Dirk Nannes was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.
After that Gayle has ended up becoming RCB’s most impact player with 3163 runs in seven seasons and his stint also played a crucial role in making RCB a much-followed franchise.
In the auctions of 2018, Gayle went almost unsold before Kings XI Punjab jumped to his rescue. And, we all have seen how their decision of having them by their side is bearing fruits.
The big-hitting West Indies player, Chris Gayle revealed in a recent interview that he was surprised not to be picked by the franchise of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“I was their biggest draw. They wanted me in the team initially, but they didn’t call me after that. So I understood that they do not want me and I was fine with it,” he said.
Talking about his current franchise Kings XI Punjab he said, “It is a great opportunity to play for Kings XI Punjab and I am having a great time there. King Gayle, destined to be playing for Kings XI Punjab.”
The Jamaican big-hitter also praised his owner Preity Zinta and added that she deserves to lift IPL trophy.
