Kolkata Knight Riders received a major blow as their U-19 star pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League due to a foot injury.
Now, the 18-year old would be replaced by Karnataka speedster Prasidh Krishna.
Reportedly, Nagarkoti picked up an injury prior to the start of the tournament and Krishna was informed beforehand that the franchise might keep him as a backup.
Krishna even played in two practice matches where he performed well.
Prasidh Krishna made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2015, where he picked up a five-for against the touring Bangladesh A team in Mysore.
He was also part of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he played for Karnataka.
KKR had invested a hefty amount of INR 3.2 crore to avail Nagarkoti’s services. Moreover, the franchise is also playing without their other lead pacer Mitchell Starc, who was ruled out with a tibial bone stress and their other lead pacer, Mitchell Johnson had to sit out in KKR’s last game with a slight niggle.
The injury-marred franchise would now rely on Tom Curran and Shivam Mavi to step up and take the role.
