Delhi – Taking the field for the first time under the new captain, Delhi Daredevils put up a transformed show to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders and registered their second win of the tournament.
The visiting team, KKR won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. The new opening pair of Munro-Shaw set the tone for a big total, with a splendid 59-run partnership for the first wicket. After Munro’s blazing 33 off 18 balls, Iyer joined young Shaw. The duo added 68 runs for the second wicket.
Iyer stole the show with his effortless hitting. In his innings of 93 off 40 balls, Iyer hit 10 maximums to carry DD’s batting to a big score. Maxwell helped with the cameo of 27 runs lower down the order.
In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders lost Chris Lynn in the second over of their innings, with Uthappa following the former in the very next. KKR innings never got going except for the sixth-wicket partnership between Shubman Gill and Andre Russell.
Andre Russell top-scored for the Knight Riders with 44, while Shubhman Gill scored 37 runs. Boult, Mishra, Maxwell and Avesh Khan picked 2 wickets apiece for the Daredevils.
