Real Madrid are set to host newly-promoted side Osasuna in La Liga at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
The record 33-time Spanish champions secured a narrow 1-0 win over Sevilla last weekend. The win came as a timely boost for underfire manager Zinedine Zidane, after Madrid’s harrowing capitulation in the French capital saw them losing 0-3 against PSG in the Champions League.
The win lifted the Los Blancos up to 2nd on the table, while the three points in their next match could see them head to the season’s first Madrid derby, to be played at Wanda Metropolitano this coming weekend, as the league leaders.
Early Team News:
Isco resumed his training this week for the first time since suffering an injury in his femoral bicep against Real Valladolid before the international break. The 27-year-old will no doubt be assessed before the game, but it’s highly likely that Zidane uses the former Malaga man from the bench even if he passes the fitness test.
Luka Modric and Marcelo also returned to the training ground, but the duo trained alone and without the ball. It means, the Croatian and the Brazilian won’t be rushed back into action in this game.
Marco Asensio also trained away from the first team as he continues to recover from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament he suffered against Arsenal in the International Champions Cup clash this summer. The 23-year-old will take some time before regaining his full match fitness.
But expect a heavy rotation:
Madrid were involved in two high-profile games last week, while another huge game against Atletico Madrid is looming on the horizon. That’s why it’s highly likely that Zidane ring in changes to the playing 11 he named for the Sevilla match.
Luke Jovic may get a rare start, while Lucas Vazquez and Vinicius Jr, are also in contention.
