The Indian Super League (ISL) has endured a huge fan base in the recent times as it acts as the apex of Indian Football division. Having started in 2014, the ISL has seen substantial development as some of the biggest names in the world have graced the league. From Nicolas Anelka to Tim Cahill, the league has seen some of the biggest goal poacher’s in the game.

The prestigious ISL Golden Boot has also seen some of the big names compete for it. Elano Blumer of Chennaiyin FC was the first Golden winner in the inaugural season of the ISL in 2014, In just 11 games that season he amassed 8 goals at an average of 0.73 goals per game.
While Blumer was unable to retain his crown in 2014, Chennaiyin certainly did retain the accolade. Stiven Mendoza cracked 13 goals in 16 matches and has one of the best goal scoring ratios in the history of ISL. in the 2015 season he played for only 1206 minutes and averaged a goal every match.
Marcelinho Leite became the second Brazilian to win the Golden Boot in 2016 when he amassed 10 goals in 15 matches for Odisha. Along with 10 goals he also chipped in with five assists as he showed his class in Indian football.
The next two season of the ISL, that is 2017-18 and 2018-19 belonged to Spanish sensation Ferrán Corominas of FC Goa. The talisman scored 18 and 16 goals respectively for the side in 20 games each. His earlier performance of 18 goals in 20 matches is still the best ratio for any player in the history of the competition which is at 0.9.
Chennaiyin had a third different player who won the Golden boot in 2019-20 as Nerijus Valskis ended with 15 goals in 20 matches. He also showed his class in as he assisted for six goals in the season.
In the 2020-21 season Igor Angulo notched in 14 goals for FC Goa and took home the ISL Golden Boot. He averaged 0.6 goals per game.
The 2021–22 season saw Bartholomew Ogbeche equal Ferrán Corominas’ record for most goals in a single ISL season. Ogbeche scored 18 goals in 20 matches with a strike rate of 0.9 goals per game.
