Gareth Southgate has made the decision of sidelining Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling for the Euro2020 Qualifier game against Montenegro.
The reason for Sterling’s omission from the game is due to the exchange that took place between him and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez. Both players were faced off for a brief moment in the Liverpool-Man. City game as tensions got high.
Though it was Liverpool which won the vital three points by the end of 90 minutes. Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez were at it again in less than 24 hours in the English camp.
It is being said that both players indulged in healthy “banter,” but things got out of hands which resulted in the rest of the teammates interfering in the middle to bring a halt to the situation.
As a result of the unwanted quarrel, head-coach, Gareth Southgate has banned Raheem Sterling for a game but will welcome him for the next game against Kosovo.
England currently occupies the top spot in Group A with 15 points on board. The Three Lions will require just a point in order to make it to the Euro2020.
Meanwhile, Montenegro finds itself at the fourth spot with just three points to their names.
