China fails to score, India settles for a goalless draw in the historic football friendly
Gritty Indian side made it impossible for the fancied rivals China to score a goal against the underdogs in the first-ever international friendly.
It was clearly dominated by the Red Dragons where they have created several moves to score but ended up depressed in front of the Indian defence.
The two countries have met each other on the football field after 21 years on Saturday.
It was an early move when Chinese Football Association agreed to have a friendly meet at their place.
Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre, China hosted the game.
The crux of the 90 minutes
Chinese XI was encrusted with big names so does Indian side but what happened in the 90 minutes was just unforgettable for the guests.
China commanded over India throughout the time, they have three sure shots but two of them denied by the goal post while the third one was defended well.
Chinese star striker Gao Lin failed to find a way to score against the weak opponents.
Indian defence Captain Sandesh Jhingan, Narayan Das, Pritam Kotal and Subhasish Bose played the full monty of their game which became the highlight of the match.
It was a remarkable achievement made by the Indian side as they stopped the continental side goal-less which was expected to be a big Waterloo for the guests.
This draw is expected to give India a new hype on the FIFA rankings to 97 while China will remain at the 76th position.
The Best Chance for India
Indian striker Sunil Chhetri once again with the positive mind created a move and passed the ball to Anirudh Thapa, but he was stopped by the goalie Yan Junling in the 13th minute of the match.
