South Korea vs Germany – Germany marks their first world cup exit from group stage

Defending World Champions Germany are crashed out of the tournament after a shocking two goals loss against South Korea. Four-time World Cup Champions were facing a threat of getting knocked out of the group stage when they faced South Korea at Kazan Arena today. But everyone believed that it would be Germany who would go to the next round because never in their history, Germany exited the world cup from the group stage and that happened today. Germany lost to South Korea 2 goals to nil.
First-half struggle
The Germans look positive and confident on the ground as the game kicked off and perhaps they gave their best performance in this world cup. They created plenty of chances in the middle but Mesut Ozil was not in best of touch in this game as he often miss passed balls to his teammates in the attacking half. Even the German Sniper Toni Kroos failed to create some great chances but overall they were pressing on hard against the Koreans and simply just couldn’t finish it. The South Korean goalkeeper was on fire today and put in some great dives denying Germany on a couple of occasions. Â And at halftime both Germany and South Korea were at nil.
Second Half Massacre
In the second half both the teams came out on the ground more aggressively and South Korean started looking to threaten the German defense who have not been in their best from the start except for the crucial blocks. Waves and waves of German attacks were in vain as the South Koreans put everything on the line. They knew they were out of the world cup and this game is for their pride and they took it very seriously. Despite racking up cards, they were throwing themselves down every time the Germans looked threatening.

It had all come down to the extra time as the ninety minutes of the game didn’t provide a decider for the game but for the Germans, they knew that had to win this game at all price. And then from a corner, Kim Young -Gwon got lucky as he started as offside but from a back pass from Toni Kroos, ended up in his leg canceling the offside and he took all the time to put it back in the German net. This was not happening, South Korea was the last team on the group table and now they have their one foot in the front as the defending champions conceded the first goal of the game and kissed their world cup goodbye.
90+6″ finishing move
The Germans still believed that they had 6 minutes left on the clock and only a miracle could change turn things around. Even Manuel Neuer was walking in the midfield to provide the additional support but from Ju ‘s through ball found the South Korean chasing the ball down to an empty goal which he taps into ensuring that Germany is knocked out of the world cup.
