Whatever happened in the group stage is past now, the present is Argentina is in the last 16, so is Portugal, and their poster boys Messi and Ronaldo are all set to show ‘their’ best in the world. The hopes of France and Uruguay to reach the last eight are in the biggest threat. The Greatest Showmen of the football world are ready to woo the fans with their skills. Argentinean coach Sampoli said in a press conference, “I’m sure France has a plan to defuse Leo and we have plans to get the greatest out of him, let’s see whose plan works the best. He is a great player, but we also have other players that can cause France some problems.”
And Portuguese coach Santos said about Ronaldo, “Everyone knows that every football team in the world depends upon the players, and of course, we have one of the greatest player in the world, but you can ask the Uruguayan coach the same question about Suarez, Cavani – you have great players in every team. It’s the team that has to play the team game; if Ronaldo plays alone, we’re going to lose. We have to be a strong team, just like Uruguay.”
Both coaches are ready with their weapon so let’s hear the Uruguayan and French coach about talismanic stars. Uruguayan coach Oscar Tabarez said, “I believe Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best strikers in the world, But what Ronaldo has on top of all those qualities, he’s the captain of that team, and there is no single player who can stop him. Nobody! We are going to have to work collectively, but we don’t lose sleep over this. And French coach Didier Deschamps said about Messi, “Lionel Messi is Lionel Messi, You only have to look at the statistics — 65 goals from 127 matches — to know everything. We absolutely want to neutralise Messi, because he can create the difference. However, there is not only Messi but the whole team. France is a team of young people, which is definitely not an excuse — it is the truth. and it does not stop us from being competitive, though.”
