India has potential to play in FIFA World Cup: Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore

Indian sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore reckons the ability of the Indian team to play in FIFA world cup. Rathore cited in the event of inter-embassy football tournament organized by the Russian embassy, “Football’s popularity is rising in India. The number of people who turned up to watch FIFA U-17 World Cup was same as IPL matches. India hasn’t played in FIFA World Cup, but we have potential. If the potential is linked to opportunities, India will start playing in FIFA World Cup very soon. Be it football, or any other sports, India has tremendous potential.”
According to Rathore India can qualify in FIFA world cup it’s just that Indian players need facilities to convert their passion into opportunities. Rathore was also asked about Indian captain Sunil Chhetri who recently pleaded fans to come to the stadium and watch them play. It was his 100th international match when he posted a video on Twitter and asked fans to come to the stadium. Rathore said the facilities are much better now even ministry is working on the future as well by asking schools to motivate students to participate in the sports as well.
Rathore also expressed about his favorite team in this FIFA, “I see with what commitment and passion the players play. Sometimes it’s Brazil, and sometimes it’s Argentina, but I am the biggest fan of India. We have to see when India plays at FIFA World Cup.”
