Story before the match
- This is the fourth time when Denmark and Australia are facing each other in the international fixture.
- Australia had a bitter experience with the European opposition when it comes to playing against them; they have lost seven matches against European teams and only one win against Serbia.
- In World Cup, Australia had lost all their four matches while conceding two goals in each game.
First Half: Eriksen’s goal gave lead to Denmark
That was an early blow for Australians as they have got no clue of Christian Eriksen’s attack assisted by N. Jorgensen who hits the ball sweetly with his left foot to pass it on time to the captain. The captain scored a goal at the 7th minute of the game and lead was on the Europeans side once again. It was Christians 18th goal where he was directly involved, he scored 13 goals and assisted 5 so far in the world cup. Now Denmark was dominating the game, but at the 37th minute of the action Denmark’s midfielder Yussuf Poulsen was booked under the charge of Handball and here came a penalty for Australia. Mile Jeninak shot at the bottom right and saved the Australians hope by equalising the score line 1-1.

Australia continuously attacking Denmark and their midfielder Tomas Rogic tried a shot on target which was it’s kind of first because Australia had never shot on target from outside the penalty area. Minutes after minutes, both teams were trying to score a goal to earn points on the table, but it was the defence of both the side which made it impossible to score. At the 75th minute of the action the only striker of Australia Nabbout fell awkwardly which led his shoulder dislocated, the treatment room was on work, he was taken out of the field and replaced by Tomi Juric.
