WAT vs MIDD Dream11 Prediction: The EFL Championship 2020/21 season begins on Friday night when Middlesbrough travel to Watford for the first game. Watford are back in the Championship after getting relegated from the Premier League due to a 19th placed finish. Hiring and firing managers multiple times over the course of last season, they now have Vladimir Ivic at the helm who will be tasked with getting them back into the top tier of English football. They should have an upper hand in the race to get promoted as they have some good quality footballers who caused a fair few upset in the Premier League last season. They are also one of the only three teams that beat runaway leaders, Liverpool. They also beat Tottenham Hotspurs, 2-1 in a pre-season friendly, a few days back. Middlesbrough also had a poor season in the Championship and escaped relegation by just 4 points. They finished in 17th place with 19 losses and 14 draws throughout the course of the distorted league campaign. Much like Watford, even the Boro have a new manager after appointing former Crystal Palace, Leeds, QPR and Cardiff City man – Neil Warnock. They have currently won both their previous games, scoring 6 goals, but conceding 4 in the process. It will be interesting to see what a poor Middlesbrough side can do away to an injury-ridden Watford side.

WAT vs MIDD Dream11 Prediction Team News, Injury Report, Starting Line-ups
Watford Team News: Watford are without Ismaila Sarr and captain Troy Deeney who are both very prolific players for the Hornets and are out injured. Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Isaac Success are also out injured. They have made three signings, including Brighton’s Glenn Murray who will fit right into the squad.
Probable Line-up:
Ben Foster (GK)
Christian Kabasele
Ben Wilmot
Craig Dawson
Jeremy Ngakia
Tom Cleverley
Tom Dele-Bashiru
Nathaniel Chalobah
Quina
Pervis Estupinan
Glenn Murray
Middlesbrough Team News: Middlesbrough won their last two games, scoring 4 goals in the last game and if it isn’t broken, Neil Warnock won’t want to fix it. He would most likely go for an unchanged line-up that beat Shrewsbury in the Carabao Cup.
Probable Line-up:
Dejan Stojanovic (GK)
Anfernee Dijksteel
Grant Hall
Dael Fry
Djed Spence
Marvin Johnson
Jonathan Howson
Marcus Tavernier

Ashley Fletcher
Britt Assombalonga
Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Bookmakers have Watford to win at 87/100 while Middlesbrough to win at a whopping 31/10 which is very fair. Watford are the clear favourites to win. The only sticking point is that all their usual players like Deeney and Sarr are unavailable and their new signings may or may not start clicking right away. Glenn Murray will be a constant thorn in the Middlesbrough box and with wide players like Chalobah and Estupinan, the Boro defence will have a very busy day. New signing, Jeremy Ngakia’s impending partnership with Estupinan will be an interesting one and if they connect well on the pitch, Watford could be in for quite an enjoyable season. Not to sell Middlesbrough short, they have some in-form players like Ashley Fletcher, Britt Assombalonga and Marcus Travernier who are quite capable of causing some damage to Vladimir Ivic’s side. Neil Warnock is no stranger to tough opposition having spent multiple years in the top division of English football, he will definitely be up for the challenge. Beating former Premier League sides will give the Boro just the confidence they need to have an incredible season ahead. For this game, however, Watford are the better side and should get the win.
WAT vs MIDD Dream11 Teams
Captain Options
Ashley Fletcher – The frontman for Middlesbrough will try to establish himself as one of the top strikers of the Championship this season after scoring 13 goals and 7 assists in the previous campaign. He has also kicked off this season with panache after scoring 2 goals in the game against Shrewsbury. At the age of just 24, he is just entering his peak now and establishing himself against clubs like Watford will be what he wants.
Glenn Murray – Despite having a very underwhelming 19/20 season, Murray has been a very good player for Brighton, scoring 15 goals in the 18/19 season and 14 goals in the 17/18 season. This seems like the perfect transfer for him at the age of 36 and this will not feel like a step-down in his career.
Quina – The young Portuguese midfielder will be playing right behind the striker and will have plenty of opportunities to make a goal contribution. He also scored against Tottenham Hotspur in the pre-season friendlies. Despite mostly only playing central midfield, Quina has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in his short career. He can definitely become one of their most sought after players under the tutelage of Vladimir Ivic.
X-Factors (Differential Picks)
Britt Assombalonga – The lesser-known forward of Middlesbrough, Britt Assombalonga plays alongside Fletcher. He scored 11 goals and provided 2 assists all through the 2019/20 campaign and also scored 5 goals in his last 7 appearances. The Congolese is a former Watford player but did not enjoy much success there. On the contrary, he has had a very lucrative career at Middlesbrough, scoring 42 goals and providing 4 assists during his time there.
Jeremy Ngakia – Ngakia, the new signing from West Ham, can turn out to be a very interesting signing for them. Despite being a defensive player, Ngakia is very attack-minded and has 9 touches in the final-third per 90 minutes which is very impressive. He also has about 3 successful crosses per 90 which Glenn Murray would love to get on the end off.
Marcus Tavernier – The young England international is pretty much a switchblade for Middlesbrough. He has played a number of positions for them, including defensive midfield, second striker, down the middle and through the flanks. That is extremely impressive for a 21-year-old and also got an assist in their game against Shrewsbury. It will be interesting to see where Warnock wants to use him and may even get a more attacking role in the squad.
