Tottenham Hotspur’s move to their magnificent new stadium couldn’t have come at a better time, who won just once in the six games prior to the home wins over Crystal Palace and Manchester City. Those two wins have lifted the mood around the club, and would certainly help Spurs in achieving their priority targets.
One of the main goals for Spurs is to be in the Champions Legaue next season. Finishing in the top-four shouldn’t be a problem though, for they have a relatively easy run-in till the end of the season, including four out of the six remaining league games at home.
As it is, the 4th placed Lilywhites are one point better off than North London rivals Arsenal in fifth, and three points away from 6th placed Manchester United.
The game against Huddersfield is the easiest remaining game for Spurs. The London based side shouldn’t have any problem in seeing out this game against a side which is propping up the table and are already relegated. Also, a win for the hosts would take them up to 3rd on the table.
Huddersfield meanwhile are bracing themselves for the life in the Championship. It’s pretty harsh on them and their fans but surviving in the Premier League without flexing your financial muscle is a tough ask. It has been gradually coming, and the Terriers had to pay for their miserly approach in the transfer market.
As things stand, Huddersfield are rock-bottom in the Premier League table. They have won just three times in 33 matches, and are on a five-game losing streak head into the encounter against Tottenham.
David Wagner is no longer with the club, having left the job in January by mutual consent.
Jan Siewert is now in charge and he is trying to take as many positives as he can from his team’s performances.
