Tottenham Hotspur Team News:
- Son Heung-Min is available for selection after completing his three-game ban. The South Korean star missed Tottenham’s last game of the 2018-19 season and the first two of the current campaign.
- Juan Foyth and new summer signing Ryan Sessegnon will miss the match due to injuries.
- Dele Alli returned to the first-team training this week but this game may have come too soon for England international. He is expected to miss the game. Ben Davies will be assessed before the game.
Possible INs and OUTs of this game:
- With Son returning, Erik Lamela could move down to the bench.
- If Lucas Moura starts, either Harry Winks or Moussa Sissoko will be dropped from the playing 11. Though, that looks highly unlikely here.
- Giovani Lo Celso is an option as well, but the Argentine will surely be making an appearance only from the bench.
- Jan Vertonghen is yet to feature for Spurs this season, and with Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld doing fairly well, Mauricio Pochettino could go with an unchanged backline here as well.
Tottenham Hotspur Probable XI:
Lloris (GK), Rose, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Walker-Peters, Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Eriksen, Son Heung-Min, Harry Kane
Newcastle United Team News:
- Andy Carroll (fitness) and Dwight Gayle (hamstring) will have to wait for their chances as the duo is still not 100% match-fit.
- Christian Atsu (knee) is back in training this week but is expected to miss the game due to the lack of match fitness.
- DeAndre Yedlin and Florian Lejeune remain out as well.
Possible ins or outs of this game:
- Allan Saint-Maximin should be fine after head coach Steve Bruce confirmed that he expects his new summer signing to be fit for the game. The 22-year-old Frenchman picked up a hamstring injury in the last game.
- Newcastle’s record summer signing Joelinton is declared fit to play despite sustaining a knock to his hip against Norwich.
- Sean Longstaff could replace Ki Sung-Yeung in the playing 11, while Bruce may hand a start to Jetro Willems.
Newcastle United Probable XI:
Dubravka (GK), Schar, Lascelles, Dummett, Krafth, Hayden, Shelvey, Longstaff, Ritchie, Almiron, Joelinton
Likely to score:
- For Tottenham Hotspur:Â Harry Kane, Son Heing-Min
- For Newcastle United:Â Joelinton, Miguel Almiron
Captain and Vice-Captain options:
Harry Kane: Tottenham’s very own. He is one of the best strikers in the whole world. His link-up play with the midfielders is one of the aspects which makes him so much an impact player.
Always in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, the 26-year-old will be looking for another solid season in front of the goal.
Last season:
- Games: 28
- Goals: 17
- Assists: 04
Tanguy Ndombele: Made an immediate impact as he scored the leveller against Aston Villa in the opening Premier League game. After another strong display against Manchester City, the Frenchman will look to keep on his good work with his new club.
Strength:
- Passing
- Positioning
- Passing
- Long-range shooting
- Key passing
Christian Eriksen: Easily the most gifted player in this team. The Danish is certainly capable of pulling the strings from the midfield. Against a team which is short on confidence, expect him to be on the top of his game.
Last season:
- Games: 35
- Goals: 08
- Assists: 12
Joelinton: Newcastle’s high-profile signing of the Summer. The 23-year-old Brazilian is yet to find a goal and that’s what the former Hoffenheim player will be looking to change here.
Last season:
- Games: 28
- Goals: 07
- Assists: 05
