NEUFC vs BFC Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:
Bengaluru FC will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they host NorthEast United in an Indian Super League match at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru, Wednesday evening (IST).
Bengaluru FC:
Bengaluru FC finally tasted a defeat in this season’s Indian Super League match. It came away from home against a rejuvenated Mumbai City as the Islanders won 1-0 at Mumbai Football Arena to put a dot on Bengaluru’s near-perfect season.
However, boss Carles Cuadrat and his team will still prefer to win the ultimate prize rather than going unbeaten at the league stage and end up with nothing. Still, the manner of loss should give the Bengaluru a cause for concern.
They failed to create their usual finesse and were wobbling whenever Mumbai brought the ball forward. Despite have a huge slice of the possession, they ended up with just two shots on target.
Before the AFC Asian Cup forced a lengthy winter break due to India’s participation in the competition, the Blues were being hailed as one of the best football clubs in India, if not the best.
Perhaps the break has broken their momentum or the Indian players are feeling the effect too much football in a short span of time.
Though they never set the league on fire by big wins, with 1-0 and 2-1 being their most consistent results, their stout defence is the reason why even a single goal felt like match point in most of the games.
The one result shouldn’t be looked down upon as a catalyst for Bengaluru. The Blues should stick to their fundamentals as they aim to go back to the summit of the table.
NorthEast United:
With six wins, five draws and two losses, NorthEast United have fared better than expectations. The last season’s bottom of the table finish certainly made them one of the least fancied teams, as they won three games last season.
But the team was completely overhauled during the off-season, and now with a new manager at the helm, the Highlanders are pretty much looking like a newborn franchise.
And it does feel like that as NorthEast have achieved some marvellous results this season. The successive away wins against ATK and Chenniayin FC at the start of the season are clearly one of the highlights of their season.
Before the winter break, Eelco Schattorie and his men suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, going down 1-5 away against FC Goa.
But the results returned to the familiar shores as NorthEast won 1-0 against Chennaiyin FC in their last match. They are 3rd on the table and could move within one point of Bengaluru with an away win in this match.
