 A much-needed break for Lazio:
The cup competition can be an awkward situation for a team going on a good run in the league. It can break the momentum as more often than not, the manager makes changes to the squad. But it can also serve as a tonic for a team struggling for form. Lazio can certainly use the Coppa Italia to boost confidence and earn an esoteric looking win when they host AC Milan.

The Biancocelesti are coming into this match on the back of three straight defeats, one in Serie A and two in the Europa League last 32 rounds against Sevilla. With European adventure coming to its premature end, Simone Inzaghi has just two competitions left to focus on at the moment.

In terms of their position in Serie A, it doesn’t bode well with their primary target, which was a top-4 finish at the start of the season. They are 6th on the table, a huge 7 points behind 4th placed AC Milan.

AC Milan: A Golden chance to win a trophy
Arguably the biggest shock of the tournament was Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Juventus in the last round. The Old Lady were the defending champions and have won the last four. With them out of the competition, Milan have a golden chance to win a trophy this season.

In Serie A, the Rossoneri are fourth on the table, one point ahead of a resurgent AS Roma. The Champions League qualification and the return to Europe’s elite is the club’s primary target at the moment

Lazio:
Injured – The manager Simone Inzaghi isn’t blessed with a fully fit squad these days. His options are still bleak as Luiz Felipe, Bastos and Wallace all have been ruled out of this match.
Suspended – None.
Questionable – Lazio’s Bosnian fullback, Senad Lulic, suffered a knee injury during the training and he limped back into the locker room. He has been listed as a doubt for this match. Lazio have confirmed that the test will be carried out to evaluate the problem.

Note: But one piece of good news which may give relief to Lazio fan is the return of star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian has been declared fit and set to start again in midfield. Also, due to the little options, former Liverpool midfielder Lucas may be forced to start at the back.

Suspended – Also, Ismael Traore is carrying a knock and he will be assessed ahead of the match.

Note: Right-back Davide Calabria was rested ahead of the game against Lazio. Also, the squad will be boosted by the return of winger Suso who missed the last match due to a suspension.
