LEN vs PSG Dream11 Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain travel to Lens for their first game of the Ligue 1 2020/21 season. However, this is Lens’ second game of the season after a 2-1 defeat to Nice in the first round. PSG were granted an extended leave because of their advanced involvement in the Champions League where they reached the finals. Unfortunately, they lost the finals 1-0 to a rampant Bayern Munich and to add insult to injury, the scorer of the winning goal was Kingsley Coman – a PSG academy graduate. PSG won the French league again last season but it was on a technicality due to the pandemic but the season ended on a bitter note as they lost the finals of Europe’s most prestigious competition that they are yet to win. On the other hand, Lens have gained promotion from the second tier of French football and will look to go for broke against the reigning champions. Despite losing to Nice, Lens played a very good game of football and they will take the game to PSG and go neck-to-neck for the win. They do have an added boost of multiple PSG players being ruled out due to testing positive for Covid-19. A good result against Europe’s powerhouses and Lens will be off to a flying start in Ligue 1.

Who Will Win Today’s Match?

Bookmakers are offering odds that heavily favour a PSG win. In an ideal scenario, the French champions would beat Lens very convincingly and get off to a confident start in a bid to defend their league title. But in this scenario, PSG are not just devoid of their first team but a lot of their second-choice players are unavailable for selection too. Their backline will be a makeshift defence with a few players playing out of position as well and Lens will look to exploit that. Paris Saint-Germain will be slightly relaxed because Monaco, Lille and Rennes all dropped points in the first two rounds of the Ligue 1 fixtures and Thomas Tuchel’s men still have a game in hand over a few teams and two games in hand over the other teams. A draw in this game will be a good result for both teams and they’d probably settle for it but there is no doubt that they will go for a win from the get-go. One major sticking point for PSG will be that they have no options off the bench which essentially means that if the starting team don’t grab the result, they can’t rely on their bench to help them out.

LEN vs PSG Dream11 Teams

Captain Options

Julian Draxler – With all the main attacking players suspended, the bulk of the responsibility falls on Julian Draxler’s shoulders. Despite not having things go his way since his move to France, the German will want to show Tuchel why he deserves to start every week. With only 7 assists and 0 goals last season, he will have to up his goal-scoring form as he enters into the prime of his career.

Gael Kakuta – Signed from Amiens, who got relegated from Ligue 1, Gael Kakuta was signed to bring in some top tier footballing experience. Despite an average season with Amiens, he has already bagged a goal on his debut for Lens. Playing behind the two strikers, he may be the difference-maker for them.

Jese Rodriguez – The Spaniard has been seldom used by the Parisians with Choupo-Moting being higher in the pecking order and ultimately being sent on loan to Sporting CP where he scored 1 goal in 18 appearances. This gives him an added incentive to perform for them. He has been on a mission to clean-up his image in world football and performing well in this match will do well to reaffirm Tuchel’s faith in him.

X-Factors (Differential Picks)

Florian Sotoca – The 29-year-old was quite instrumental in Lens gaining promotion to Ligue 1 with his 9 goals and 4 assists throughout the season. He also scored 3 goals in his last 2 games and will want to carry on that goal-scoring form when Lens play the best team in France. Playing in front of Gael Kakuta and alongside Ignatius Ganago, they will cause the PSG defence a lot of problems.

Ander Herrera – Despite not being the most prolific player in the squad, Les Parisiens will count on Ander Herrera’s leadership and impeccable work-ethic in the absence of all their star players. He also fancies a crack at goal from outside the box and will try to test Jean-Louis Leca on a few occasions. He also has 38 goals and 50 assists despite playing central and defensive midfield for most of his career.

Jonathan Clauss – New signing, Jonathan Clauss, from Arminia Bielefeld is ready to feature for Lens. He plays right-wing-back and scored 5 goals, providing 8 assists last season. He could prove to be a very shrewd piece of business for the French club. He averages 2 interceptions and 2 tackles per 90 whilst also putting in about 4 successful crosses per game.
