Pune City will aim to end their troubles when they host another struggler Kerala Blasters at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, in Pune, tomorrow on Friday evening.

Pune City:
With no wins in the first four games, Pune are rock bottom heading into this match. They remain one of the only three teams to not have tasted victory in this ISL season. The Punekars wasted no time in sacking head coach Miguel Angel Portugal, while caretaker manager Pradhyum Reddy’s first game ended in a 4-2 loss against high-flying FC Goa.

However, despite not getting a positive result in Goa, there were some positives to take from the match for new manager Reddy. Emiliano Alfaro and Marcelinho looked threatening in the final 3rd, and also scored one goal each in that match. However, the 4-2 scoreline did flatter the hosts as Marcelinho’s shot was denied by the post while Alfaro’s penalty was saved by the Goan keeper.

If Punekars play with the same intensity as the last game, that elusive victory they are aiming will not be a distant target. However, the midfield looks a bit short on talent at the moment, while the back must sort out its problems if the hosts are to get their maiden win of this campaign against David James’ side.

Kerala Blasters:
Kerala Blasters, on the other hand, remain unbeaten this season but have won just once in the first game. They have drawn the last three, and have lost the maximum points from winning positions this season.

However, the team did show a lot of fight in the last game. They were trailing 0-2 after half an hour but the team kept pushing and got the reward when Slavisa Stojanovic’s 71st-minute strike cut the deficit to half. The comeback was complete just five minutes before the full time when Vineeth sent the ball into the back of the net.

David James made three changes to his starting 11 in the last match and could make changes here as well. Seiminlen Doungel is one of those players claiming for a place in the starting 11 after impressing from the bench. While Sahal Abdul Samad could also be drafted back into the first XI.

Pune City’s defence has undone the team in almost all the games this season. In fact, the Punekars have the joint worst defensive record in the 2018-19 campaign along with Chennaiyin FC. While Kerala are not known for keeping clean sheets either. So it could be a game who score the most or who has worked on the shortcomings.
