NorthEast have one draw and a win from their opening two games. After an eventful 0-0 draw against defending champions Bengaluru FC in the opening game, Robert Jarni’s men recorded their first win of the season after beating 10-man Odisha FC 2-1 in the last match.

That said, the 2-1 scoreline flattered them to some extent as the visitors bossed the possession, dominated the midfield, and had more clear cut chances. But the balance of the tie changed when center-back Carlos Delgado’s challenge was deemed a red-card offense.

The Highlanders enjoyed more possession afterward. Though Odisha were doing reasonably well to keep the hosts at bay, they lost their focus when Asamoah Gyan found himself some space in the final third and made no mistake in sending the ball into the net. That was the game and three points for NorthEast United.

FC Goa made a scintillating start to the new season after thrashing two-time ISL winners Chennaiyin FC 3-0 in the opening game before settling for a 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC.

NorthEast United: The Highlanders will be without star midfielder Federico Gallego for the most part of the season due to an injury. The 29-year-old Uruguayan is joined by Rupert Nongrum on the sideline after the young right-winger picked up an injury during the pre-season.

NorthEast head coach Robert Jarni is facing some selection headache ahead of this game. Asamoah Gyan will lead the attack once again, but Milan Singh faces a battle from Lalthathanga Khawlhring, fondly known as Puitea, for a place in the midfield. Croatian center back Mislav Komorski also looks for a spot in the playing 11.

FC Goa:

FC Goa are dealing with their own injury issues at the moment. Edu Bedia is sidelined with an injury with no timetable for a return date, while Hugo Boumous is battling with his own injury problems. He is yet to be involved this season.
