England are on the cusp of something great. The evolution has already started, the seeds were sown in Russia last summer, and now the time is right to nurture the belief and build something great.
For some English football fans, this feeling of ‘heightened expectations’ is a familiar one. They are well aware of how the talent only or the success at the club level don’t necessarily bring the best out of the football stars.
The term ‘golden generation’ was pitched a million times when the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, and Michale Owen, to name a few, used to represent the Three Lions. And you wouldn’t argue against that tag as individually those sets of players were at par with most of their contemporaries.
But the national shirt failed to bring the best out of that golden generation as a collective unit. They failed, again and again, falling to the depths of obscurity in big games and tournament.
However, Gareth Southgate’s team evoke a different feeling. Their unexpected long journey in Russia is the reason for much optimism around the English football team. But the biggest factor in that regard is that England boast one of the youngest sides in Europe, which in time will get only better and better.

While the Czech Republic are the complete opposite of what England are doing right now. They once had one of the finest young players and an emerging football powerhouse in the world of football, but they have lost their way.
They haven’t qualified to the FIFA World Cup since 2006 and were eliminated in the group stages of Euro 2016. The era of Petr Cech, Tomas Rosicky, Pavel Nedved, and Milan Baros is long gone.
Therefore, manger Jaroslav Silhavy has a big job to revive the fortunes of the Czech in the football world.
Securing a place in the Euro 2020 will be a big step forward in that regard and something which they should do considering the group they are in. Silhavy’s men are carrying the “best of the rest” tag in the group behind England and should finish 2nd in the group.
