CHE vs SOU Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:
Chelsea can move within one point of Manchester City in the next round of Premier League matches as they host Southampton at Stamford Bridge, in Fulham, on Wednesday night (IST).

Chelsea:
Chelsea have had a decent first half even if they have their doubters who are raising questions over the way things are unravelling at the SW6 this season. And without a shadow of any doubt, the Eden Hazard issue tops every news and rumours these days.

The Blues would have hoped for a complete sweep over their festive fixture and to be true this was the least that was expected of them considering the benign list of their opponents.

The five-time Premier League champions started the festive period with a home clash against Leicester City and lost 0-1, followed by two away games against Watford and Crystal Palace. Both were more than banana skins if we look at how both Hornets and Eagles have been doing of late.

But Chelsea came unscathed and won both the games. That’s a return of six points out of nine, which could have been 100% and had that happened, Blues would have been third in the table.

The win in the last game came at a big price, however. Chelsea started the match with Olivier Giroud up front and lost the striker midway into the 2nd half. The manager Maurizio Sarri is now left with Alvaro Morata as the only out-and-out striker in his squad. And considering the former Real Madrid and Juventus hitman was never been his first choice, Chelsea may be forced to sign a striker in January than wait for the summer transfer window.

Southampton:
Before the match against Manchester City, Southampton had two wins in the last four games under their new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl. That’s the exact number of wins which manager Mark Hughes had managed in his 22 games in charge as the boss of St Mary’s Stadium.

And add Arsenal into the mixture and it even looks better for this proud footballing club which is famous all around the world for its philosophy of giving exposure to the young talents. This is the English club which can be moulded into the same brackets of Ajax and Barcelona.

So it’s very hard to see the state of this club ever since Ronald Koeman left the job for Everton. The last season was a nightmare and could have been an everlasting haunting had it got relegated. Then there was no surety of future and we need just to look at Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

But in Hasenhüttl, there is a belief that the Saints have got a perfect man for the job. The former Red Bull Leipzig boss likes to play an aggressive and high-intensity game, which is the exact brand of football which suits and is embraced by fans and all at St Mary’s Stadium.

However, this is a mid-season appointment and nothing should be taken as a token for things need time to take certain shapes. In the case of Hasenhüttl, it may take a few months before we see his true brand of football. At this time, the results are that matters. No matter how they come.

CHE vs SOU Dream11 TEAM NEWS: Injuries and Suspensions
Chelsea vs Southampton Team News:

Chelsea:
Injured – As mentioned, striker Olivier Giroud suffered an injury against Palace and has been ruled out from this match. While Pedro, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all have been ruled out for the Blues.
Suspended – None.
Questionable – Centre-back Andreas Christensen is carrying a knock and will be assessed ahead of the match.
While the situation with Cesc Fabregas, Daniel Drinkwater and Victor Moses remains questionable.

Note – With Giroud out of contention, it opens the door for Alvaro Morata to start the match. The Spanish international hasn’t since sustaining a knee injury on December 12.
Key Players – Willian, Hazard, Kante

Southampton:
Injured – Club captain Ryan Bertrand is expected to miss the match with a back injury. While Michael Obafemi remains a long-term absentee.
Suspended – Midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who scored Southampton’s only goal against Manchester City, picked up a red card in the same match and thus will be suspended for this game.
Questionable – Portuguese wing-back Cedric Soares is back in training and could be used for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
Note: You can certainly expect some changes from Southampton. The likes of Stuart Armstrong, Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings all were on the bench against City and should be deployed right into the starting lineup for this match.
If Soares doesn’t start the match, either of Yan Valery or Kayne Ramsey will be in the starting 11.
Key Players – Ings, Redmond
