Chennaiyin FC will be missing the services of Dhanpal Ganesh this season. Head Coach John Gregory said on Saturday that his team will definitely miss Dhanpal because of his offensive and defensive work both with and without the ball. But he claimed that the defending champions are equipped with enough talent to replace Ganesh.

Form and Preparations- Chennai’s preparations have been substandard, to say the least as they lost all their four games in Malaysia against Felda United, Malaysia U-19s, Terengganu FC and Malaysian Indian Football Association.

Key players leaving – Chennaiyin will also have to make do without their best center-back of last season, Henrique Sereno, while the departure of midfielder Rene Mihelic and forward Bikramjit Singh may dent their capabilities in the middle of the park to some degrees.

Replacements – Chennai’s answer to replace Sereno is Eli Sabia, while in midfield, we will see the Spanish midfielder Andre Orlandi pulling the strings.
