Barcelona will be looking for their first win in the three La Liga games when they host Villarreal at Camp Nou, in Barcelona, tomorrow on Sunday night (IST).

Barcelona:
If by any chance Barcelona don’t end up winning the La Liga, a lot of questions will be asked from manager Ernesto Valverde.

Real Madrid won’t be having the issues they are enduring this season. It’s only a matter of time before they reveal their next bunch of Galacticos. And for Barcelona, this will be a worst case scenario as Lionel Messi is not getting younger, and replacing him is beyond the realm of possibilities.

As things stand, the Catalan giants are 2nd in the table, one point behind leaders Sevilla. They have already dropped 14 points, lost against the likes of Leganes and Real Betis.

Things must improve if Valverde is to win his 2nd championship in as many seasons. Last time around, they drew 1-1 against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Villarreal:
Villarreal, on the other hand, are finding hard to replicate the form of last season. They finished at a respectable 5th position last year and qualified for the Europa League.

The Yellow Submarine have been quite consistent in La Liga since they got promotion in the 2013-14 campaign. They have finished sixth, sixth, fourth, fifth and fifth, and also made it to the semi-final of the Europa League in 2016.

However, they are facing some big issues this season, and the biggest of them all is that they are not winning matches and drawing too many at this moment. In fact, Villarreal have won just once in the last seven La Liga games, losing three and drawing the other three.

Injured – Uruguayan Superstar Luis Suarez will be missing the match with a knee problem.
Thomas Vermaelen, Sergi Samper, Rafinha, Jasper Cillessen and Sergi Roberto all have been ruled out as well.

Questionable – World Cup-winning defender Samuel Umtiti missed the midweek clash in the Champions League along with Arthur, both the players will be assessed ahead of the match and thus remain questionable.

Note: If Umtiti doesn’t get fit in time which looks more likely as he is still suffering from a knee injury, Clement Lenglet is expected to partner Gerard Pique at the back.
While Arturo Vidal could retain his place in midfield ahead of doubtful Arthur if the latter is not deemed fit for the match.
Also, Malcom and Denis Suarez provide an option at the front for manager Ernesto Valverde.

Note: Manager Javier Calleja made wholesale changes for the Europa League clash against Rangers. However, the usual suspects will be drafted straight back into the team with the likes of Moreno, Sergio Asenjo and Samuel Chukwueze all starting the match.
Carlos Bacca may find himself on the bench again as Chukwueze is in great form.
Also, Pablo Fornals and Santi Cazorla are expected to start in the midfield, while Alfonso Pedraza should start at the left-back ahead of Jaume Costa.
