ATK vs KBFC Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:
Indian Super League resumes its operation after the midseason break with the first game set to be played between hosts Kerala Blasters and ATK at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Kaloor Stadium), in Kochi, Kerala, on Friday evening (IST).
Kerala Blasters:
With the next and the exciting phase of the Indian Super League set to start in God’s Own Country, Kerala Blasters will be hoping for more luck and better results in their remaining matches.
The team is almost out of playoff contentions and have sacked manager David James from the hot-seat. The reason being the poor start and no apparent signs of improvements under the tutelage of the former Liverpool goalkeeper.
As things stand, the Yellow Army is at 8th in the table with just nine points from 12 regular season games. They have won just once and none in the last 11 games with their first victory coming on an opening day, a 0-2 win over ATK.
The former NorthEast United boss Nelo Vingada is now at the helm of the club. He has been trusted by the club’s owners as well as Blasters have done some exciting transfer business during the break. The first task should be to get back to winning ways and win back the fans who have clearly opted out of club’s home games during that difficult run-in.
ATK:
ATK meanwhile have everything to play for this season. With 16 points from the first 12 games, the two-time ISL Champions are on sixth in the table, just four points adrift of top-4 places. So the Kolkata based side is pretty much in the contention for the post-season.
The season started on a very poor note as ATK lost their opening two games and failed to score in those games as well. But the team picked up the momentum with a very good run and lost just once in the next 9 matches, winning four times, while keeping four clean sheets as well.
But the winner of the first-ever ISL lost their last game 1-0 against Bengaluru FC. To make matter worse, Jamshedpur won their game against Delhi Dynamos.
Steve Coppell’s side could still miss out on the playoff as the bad start to the campaign could come back to haunt them. Also, the regular season is just six games long and a few bad results could end ATK’s hopes of making into the post-season.
