The London Derby will be played in the Premier League this weekend as West Ham United welcome Arsenal to the London Stadium for a crunch league match, in London, tomorrow on Saturday evening (IST).

West Ham:
Just when it looks as if West Ham United are finally moulding to the tune of manager Manuel Pellegrini, comes a piece of news which could unravel something bad within the squad.

Marko Arnautovic being the centre of attention in that regard. The Austrian is a reported target of a Chinese Super League club which he is keen on and wants West Ham to accept the £35m bid. West Ham, though, have rejected the bid as per reports.

There’s no doubt about the potential of Arnautovic and he remains West Ham’s best striker at the moment. In his absence, the Hammers clearly struggles for the goals and that’s the reason they are so adamant to hold on to their prized assets.

But this is the kind of saga which in the past has distracted players and it would be interesting to see whether it rumbles on to the pitch.

At the moment, Pellegrini’s men are in the top half, sitting at 10th in the table with 28 points from the first 21 games. The form has improved in the recent months as they have won five times in their last 8 premier league games.

Arsenal:

Unai Emery is in the market looking for the fresh faces to make his side a genuine threat for the Champions League places this season. But with two weeks already into the January transfer window, the Gunners haven’t found any success so far.

But it’s quite incredible to look at the job Emery has done with Arsenal up until now. The backline was crushed to pieces by injuries and he was forced to shoehorn Granit Xhaka at the back. And whatever the options he had, nobody seems to rise up for the challenge. And it’s clear that the defence has let his down in most matches this season. Whether Emery gets his men or man, only time will tell.

But at the moment, Gunners are sitting on the fringes of top-4, and are very much in contention to finish in the champions league places. In fact, they are just three points away from Chelsea and 7 from their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Club captain and centre-back Laurent Koscielny is struggling with the fitness as are his partners Shkodran Mustafi and Konstantinos Mavropanos. While wing-backs Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal are doubtful as well.
