The fiercest North London rivals stand in each other’s ways for the League Cup glory as Arsenal host Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the quarterfinals of Football League Cup, tomorrow on Wednesday night (IST).

Arsenal:
The true nature of English Football dawned upon Unai Emery at the Weekend against a team from the South Coast which was under a  new manager, was reeling in the relegation zone and came into the match with just one win under their belt all season.

Emery has to make some decisions which start from the backline. The central partnership between Granit Xhaka and Stephan Lichtsteiner didn’t work at the weekend. Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be returning from the suspension, and thus may start at the back.

Tottenham Hotspur:
For Mauricio Pochettino, this is a golden opportunity to end club’s barren run in the trophy department. Not since 2008 that the club won any silverware and now they have the opportunity to go a step closer as they face Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the Football League Cup.

Spurs’ success is quite incredible, to say the least. It’s unthinkable how Pochettino can even sustain such high standards both in the Premier League and the club competitions without spending even a penny. No wonder, he is the hottest property in the world right now and it’s been reported that both Real Madrid and Manchester United are in the race for his signature come the next season.

At the moment, Spurs are 3rd in the table and despite Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season and the ever-growing Manchester City’s perfection, Tottenham are only six points off the pace. Considering the form of Spurs, by no means, they can be regarded as an outsider in the title race.
