International Cricket council’s newest acquisition in Cricket is the World Test Championship. The idea behind this was to have a pinnacle event for all the three formats of the game.
It was first scheduled to take place in 2013, but with many permutations and combinations, the competition finally got underway on 1st August 2019 with the Ashes series.
The first World Test championship will run from 1st August 2019 until 2021, whereas, the second edition will take place from 2021-2023.

India
Currently placed at the numero uno position in the World Test Championship points table, India, the World number one ranked Test side are the firm favorites to win the title.
So far, they have played 4 series and won three of them. Their only series loss came at the hands of New Zealand in a 2-match series in February 2020 where they were outfoxed 0-2 in a 2-match series.
Australia
Retaining the Ashes was Australia’s biggest achievement in terms of Test cricket last year. It took them 18 long years to taste an Ashes series success in England and the Tim Paine led side did it magnificently.
With 108 rating points, Australia are placed third in the World rankings. Since the inception of the World Test championship, they have played 10 matches and registered 7 wins, 2 losses, whereas, one match ended in a draw. They are one force to be reckoned with and will be going toe to toe against India.

As far as India’s Test schedule is concerned, after touring Australia for a 4-test series, they will be heading to England in Feb-March 2021 for a 5-match series.
