South Africa really needed to win this ODI series as they are in a critical situation with respect to ODI super league. Their series against Australia has already been cancelled which was set to happen early next year. SA have committed themselves to SA20 which meant that they had to withdraw from that series which has robbed the points for them. That meant they need to win almost all their remaining games to directly qualify for the world cup without having to play the qualifiers.
IND vs SA 2nd ODI: South Africa to seal the series
South Africa have a really good white ball side. That includes their T20I team as well. Their core is one of the best, and they are well past their rebuilding phase. They have managed to come up after the voids left by Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers. Their middle order is definitely one of the best going around and if Aiden Markram cracks the ODI format, they will be unstoppable to say the least.
SA’s middle order demolished Indian bowlers at the death overs. India did miss quite a few crucial catches which allowed South Africa to never take the foot off the pedal but some of the shots Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller played were stunning.
Who Will Win T20 World Cup 2022?
Indian batting will be their prime concern once again as SA have a top quality pace attack which the fringe Indian batsmen are not equipped to handle. Shikhar Dhawan has been pretty awful as well. It is expected that South Africa will win the 2nd game and also will seal the series with it. India were also whitewashed by SA earlier this year in ODIs in SA.
Will Shikhar Dhawan silence his critics?
There has been immense criticism over Shikhar Dhawan’s place in a full strength side in ODIs. There is no doubt that he is one of the greatest left hand batsman to have ever played for India in ODIs but his returns in the recent past have been mediocre if not poor. Shikhar Dhawan’s time is running out and he needs to score big in the remaining 2 games.
