Priya is known as the ‘Most Beautiful Indian Women Cricketer’ and also referred to as the rising star of women in cricket in India. She was born on August 6, 1996, in a middle-class family. Her father, Surendra Punia is a head clerk in the Indian Survey Department of Jaipur and her mother is a housewife. She has a younger brother named Raul Punia who is also a cricketer.

She has done graduation in commerce from Jesus and Mary College of Delhi. She was trained by Rajkumar Sharma for seven long years in Delhi. After she moved Delhi to Jaipur, her real-life struggle really begun. Her problems were not only limited to practice facilities in Jaipur but on arriving in Jaipur she was shaken by Jaundice and then three months later, she suffered a fractured thumb. But then his father came up as her supporter and took up the role of mentor as well as her coach.

She started her cricket training at the tender age of seven under the guidance of coach Rajkumar Sharma who was also Virat Kohli coach. She played her first cricket match for Delhi women’s team against Hyderbad in 2016. It was a T20I match which was organized in Bangalore.

She then played the senior women’s one-day ODI series held in Banglore for Delhi Women’s team. In that series, she scored spectacular 407 runs in eight matches at an average of 50.00.

Priya made her international debut against Australia in Mumbai in the year 2018. SHe has proven time and time again that what a fabulous she is. Her passion and consistent performance got her selected for New Zealand tour in 2019.
