Most educated cricketer in India: When we talk about cricket, we don’t generally associate education with it. However, over the years we have seen many Indian cricketers who have given apt significance to education and attained high degrees in the field of education. In this post, we have come up with a few Indian cricket players (both former and current) who are fall under the most educated cricketer in India.

1. Avishkar Salvi
Former Indian bowler Avishkar Salvi is right at the top of this list. Avishkar played his domestic cricket for Mumbai and also represented Delhi Daredevils in the opening two seasons of IPL. He holds a PhD degree in Astrophysics which is definitely something unexpected for a cricketer.
2. Anil Kumble
India’s former Test skipper Anil Kumble is regarded as one of the most successful leg spinners in world cricket. Kumble was always lethal with his skill and ended his phenomenal career as the leading wicket taker (619 wickets) in Test for India. Kumble holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
One of the modern-day greats in Test cricket, all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin is also considered as one of the most qualified cricketer in India. Being the second most successful spinners for India after Anil Kumble, Ashwin holds a B.Tech degree in Information Technology.
4. Javagal Srinath
Javagal Srinath was the flag bearer of Indian pace attack once Kapil Dev hung his boots. Srinath was a genuine pacer and at the time of bidding adieu to the game, Srinath finished as India’s leading wicket-taker in ODIs with 315 scalps from 229 games. He still holds the record of bowling the fastest delivery in international circuit by an Indian clocking 154.5 Kmph. Besides his lethal bowling, Srinath holds a Bachelor’s degree of Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) in Mysore.
5. VVS Laxman
Former Indian Test specialist VVS Laxman was born in a family of doctors. Cricket wasn’t his first choice as he was pretty much destined to go into medicine. He prepared for Medical entrance examinations at the age of 17 and was on the verge of getting a seat, however destiny had other ideas and the talismanic right-hander opted for cricket. A decision that cricket fans are still cherishing as Laxman went onto became one of the batting greats for India in Red ball cricket. As of now, Laxman holds an honorary doctorate degree from Teri University, New Delhi.
6. Murali Vijay
Former Indian Test opener Murali Vijay had a hit & miss sort of cricketing career. He scaled rare heights in both Test cricket and IPL but failed to remain consistent throughout his career. He last played for India in 2018 and was his last competitive showing was in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022. Vijay holds a post graduate degree in Economics from SRM University.
