IPL New Teams: BCCI official confirms 10-team 2022 edition

The Indian Premier League has been one of the world’s most lucrative T20 leagues across the globe since its introduction in 2008. Seasons after seasons fans have witnessed thrilling encounters and the first phase of the IPL 2021 was also at its riveting best as cricket lovers witnessed many nail-bitters. While it is expected that there would be no shortage of entertainment in the second leg of the tournament, the BCCI has already begun preparations for IPL 2022.
10-teams to take part in IPL 2022, confirms BCCI officialÂ
The next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to be a blockbuster season as it is learned that it will see the addition of the two new teams. The addition of the two new teams along with the mega auction was planned for the 2021 season but the COVID-19 pandemic led BCCI to go ahead with eight teams and plan the mega auction for next season.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release an official statement, it is almost certain that 10 teams will take part in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022.
BCCI treasurer, Arun Dhumal said that the remaining part of the IPL 2021 in UAE will be an exciting tournament and also confirmed that 10 teams will take part in the next edition as the governing body is working on it.
“Everybody is looking up to the IPL now; we believe it will be an exciting tournament in the UAE. This would be the last season of the IPL with 8 teams. Surely, there will be 10 teams next time. We are working on that.” he said.

CSK and MI reach the UAE to begin preparations for IPL 2021
Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the first two teams to reach the UAE to begin their preparations for the tournament. While CSK will being their preparations in Dubai, the defending champions will commence their practice in Abu Dhabi. Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are likely to reach UAE in the upcoming week.
Delhi Capitals are currently placed on the top of the table with six wins out of eight games and are followed by Chennai Super Kings with five wins in seven games. Royal Challengers Bangalore are on the number three spot with five wins in seven matches and defending Champions Mumbai Indians are placed fourth in the points table with four wins in their bag in seven matches.
