England leg-spinner Adil Rashid is all set to make his long-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in the second leg of the 14th season. Rashid will join the KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings, who have signed the English leg-spinner as a replacement for Australian pacer, Jhye Richardson.
The Punjab-based IPL franchise took to their official Twitter account to reveal the same.
”The one who will surely brighten up your feed – Adil Rashid We know we have chosen the right one to bowl the wrong ones,” wrote Punjab Kings on their official Twitter account.

IPL 2021: Adil Rashid has never featured in the IPL
Adil Rashid has been one of the most prolific spinners in white-ball cricket in the last five years but with the IPL franchises having enough spin-bowling options at their disposal in the domestic circuit, the Pakistan-born England leg-spinner has repeatedly failed to attract gigs.
Rashid had thrown his hat in the ring in the IPL 2021 auctions earlier this year but once again he went unsold. The leg-spinner will now replace Australian pacer Jhye Richardson for the remainder of the 14th season of the IPL.
Richardson, who had gone for a hefty sum in the IPL 2021 auction, had a disappointing outing during the first leg of the 14th season. In three games, the Australian pacer managed just three wickets at an average of 39 and an extremely costly economy rate of 10.63.
As far as Adil Rashid’s T20 numbers are concerned, the England leg-spinner has featured in 201 matches in which he has claimed a total of 232 wickets at an average of 22.08 and an economy rate of 7.43 with 6 four-wicket hauls.
