1. Sam Curran (18.5 Crore)
Englis all-rounder Sam Curran was signed by Punjab Kings for INR 18.50 crore at the 2023 IPL Auction. He was Player of the Tournament in the 2022 T20 World Cup and was Player of the Match in the final where England beat Australia. Curran previously played for Chennai Super Kings in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Over 32 games in three seasons, he has scored 337 runs with a 149.78 strike rate and 32 wickets at 9.21 economy.
2. Cameron Green (17.50 Crore)
Aussie all-rounder was signed by Mumbai for INR 17.50 crore, making him the second most expensive player in the 2023 IPL Auction. Green debuted for Australia in T20Is in April 2022 and has 8 matches with a strike rate of 173.75 and two 50+ scores.
3. Ben Stokes (16.25 Crore)
English Test skipper Ben Stokes was signed by Chennai Super Kings for INR 16.25 crore in the 2023 IPL Auction. Stokes played a crucial role in England’s T20 World Cup winning campaign and had multiple teams interested in him. He made an unbeaten 52 in the final against Pakistan and picked up six wickets with an economy of 6.79.
4. Chris Morris (16.25 Crore)
South African all-rounder Chris Morris was the most expensive player in IPL 2021 when he was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for INR 16.25 crore. He was the leading wicket-taker for Rajasthan in IPL 2021 with 15 wickets but had a poor season with the bat. Morris retired from all forms of cricket in January 2022.
5. Nicholas Pooran (16 Crore)
Nicholas Pooran was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 16 crore, making him the most expensive wicketkeeper batter in IPL auction history. Pooran played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2022 and has played for Punjab Kings. He averages 26.06 with a strike rate of 151.24 over four seasons in the tournament.
6. Yuvraj Singh (16 Crore)
Yuvraj Singh was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for INR 16 crore ahead of the 2015 IPL. He failed to live up to the billing, managed 248 runs and a solitary wicket in 14 matches and was released. He then played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and won two IPL trophies in 2016 and 2019 with SRH and Mumbai Indians respectively.
7. Pat Cummins (15.5 Crore)
Pat Cummins was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 15.5 crore at the 2020 IPL auction. He had 12 wickets and contributed to lower-order knocks, including a quick-fire fifty in his first season. He was released by KKR ahead of the 2022 auction, where he was bought back for INR 7.25 crore, half the price from his previous record-breaking bid.
