Subhranshu Senapati is an Indian cricketer who hails from the eastern state of Odisha. He plays as a middle-order batsman and has represented his state team, Odisha, in various domestic tournaments. In 2021, he was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Early Life and Domestic Career
Subhranshu Senapati was born on 22 September 1995 in Cuttack, Odisha. He started playing cricket at a young age and showed promise as a batsman. He made his debut for the Odisha cricket team in 2015 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a domestic limited-overs tournament. He impressed with his performances and soon became a regular member of the team.
In the 2018-19 season, Senapati had a breakthrough year. He scored 569 runs in the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class tournament in India. He also scored two centuries and three half-centuries in the tournament, which earned him a call-up to the India A team for the Deodhar Trophy.

Subhranshu Senapati was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the IPL 2021 auction. Although he did not get a chance to play in the tournament, he got an opportunity to learn from some of the best players in the world. He was in the same team as MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja, among others. Senapati said that he learned a lot from the senior players and was able to improve his game.
Senapati’s style of play suits the requirements of the Chennai Super Kings team. The franchise has traditionally relied on experienced middle-order batsmen who can build partnerships and finish the innings strongly. Senapati is a good player of spin bowling, which is a crucial skill to have in the IPL.
