The KKR vs RCB match held on April 23, 2017, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, is considered to be one of the most memorable matches in the history of the Indian Premier League especially because of the RCB 49 all out scorecard. The 27th match of the IPL season witnessed a highly competitive match, with KKR scoring a total of 131 runs in 19.3 overs. However, the RCB team struggled to chase the target and was eventually bowled out for a mere 49 runs in 9.4 overs. The match was an extraordinary display of KKR’s brilliant performance, especially their bowlers, who dismantled RCB’s batting lineup, restricting them to such a meager score.

KKR’s bowlers were in complete control of the match, displaying a phenomenal performance that resulted in their victory. They bowled with excellent accuracy and precision, and their well-executed plans put tremendous pressure on the RCB batsmen. The bowling lineup was led by Nathan Coulter-Nile, who took three crucial wickets in his first over, followed by Umesh Yadav, who scalped three more wickets. Sunil Narine also contributed significantly to the victory, taking two wickets in his two overs. KKR’s batting performance was commendable, with Robin Uthappa being the top scorer with 36 runs.

Despite the fantastic start, KKR’s innings lost momentum as Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, and Yusuf Pathan departed quickly. Suryakumar Yadav and Chris Woakes tried to stabilize the innings, but the RCB bowlers, especially Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi, kept the pressure on and took wickets at regular intervals. KKR managed to score a total of 131 runs, thanks to Woakes’ unbeaten 18 off 21 balls.

RCB’s target was not a big one, but they never got going in their innings. The team had a disastrous start, losing their captain Virat Kohli in the very first over. Manish Pandey took a brilliant catch off Nathan Coulter-Nile’s bowling to send Kohli back to the pavilion. The rest of the RCB batsmen also failed to put up a fight, with the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Kedar Jadhav getting out cheaply.

KKR’s bowlers were relentless and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Coulter-Nile was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs. Woakes, Kuldeep Yadav, and Colin de Grandhomme also chipped in with two wickets each. RCB was eventually bowled out for just 49 runs, which is the lowest team score in IPL history as is the RCB 49 all out scorecard.

The match started with KKR’s decision to bat first, and they got off to an excellent start. Narine, who is known for his aggressive batting, opened the innings with Gautam Gambhir. Narine started hitting the ball all around the park from the word go. He hit a boundary in the first over and followed it up with three more in the second over bowled by Sreenath Aravind.

In the third over, Narine hit three consecutive boundaries off Aniket Choudhary’s bowling. He then hit a six over long-on, which was caught by the crowd, to bring up KKR’s fifty in just 22 balls. Narine was the aggressor in the partnership, and Gambhir played the role of an anchor. Gambhir was content with rotating the strike and giving Narine the strike as much as possible.

The partnership was finally broken in the fourth over when Narine got out to Stuart Binny. Narine tried to hit Binny for another boundary but failed to connect the ball correctly, and the ball went straight into the hands of Chris Gayle at cover. Narine’s innings came to an end, but he had given KKR an excellent start, scoring 34 runs off just 17 balls.

After Narine’s dismissal, KKR lost the plot as Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, and Yusuf Pathan got out cheaply.
