Born on 1 May 2000 in Potchefstroom, South Africa, Marco Jansen is a left-handed all-rounder who can bat in the lower order and bowl medium-fast deliveries. He started playing cricket at a young age and made his first-class debut for North West Province in 2018. He was later signed by the Cape Cobras and played for them in the 2019-20 season.

In 2021, Marco Jansen was picked by the Mumbai Indians for his base price of 20 lakhs. Though he was not included in the initial matches, he made his debut against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the seventh match of the season. Jansen impressed everyone with his performance, taking the wicket of Glenn Maxwell and conceding only 28 runs in his four overs.

Jansen played eight matches for the Mumbai Indians in 2021 and picked up two wickets at an average of 22.50. He also scored 29 runs with the bat in two innings. Jansen’s performance in the IPL earned him a place in the South African national team for the T20 series against Pakistan in April 2021.

In the 2022 IPL auction, Jansen’s base price rose to 50 lakhs, and he was eventually bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping 4.2 crore.
