Jimmy Neesham IPL, the New Zealand all-rounder, has been released by the Rajasthan Royals franchise ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. The left-handed batsman had represented the team in IPL 2021, but had a rather forgettable outing, playing only three games for the team. Neesham failed to get off the mark in the season with the bat, but he made an impact with his bowling, picking up five wickets at an average of 13.20 and an economy rate of 7.33.

Jimmy Neesham IPL first played in the Indian Premier League in 2014, representing the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). However, he only played four games in that season and did not make much of an impact. After that, he was absent from the IPL for a few years, but made a comeback in IPL 2020 with the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) franchise. In the 2020 season, Neesham played six matches and scored 19 runs with the bat, and picked up two wickets at an average of 61.50.

In total, Neesham has played 12 matches in the IPL across three seasons. He has scored 61 runs in those games, with a top score of 22 runs. While his batting has not been very impressive, he has made some contributions with the ball, picking up eight wickets at an average of 38.13. His best bowling figures in the IPL are 2 for 5.

Despite his limited success in the IPL, Neesham remains a valuable player in the shorter formats of the game. He has played 66 T20 internationals for New Zealand, scoring 623 runs and picking up 63 wickets. He has also played 12 one-day internationals and five Test matches for his country. His versatility as an all-rounder makes him a sought-after player in various T20 leagues around the world.

Neesham’s release from the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2023 auction is not surprising, given his lack of impact in the previous season. However, it remains to be seen if any other franchise would be interested in picking him up at the auction. With his ability to contribute with both bat and ball, Neesham could be a useful addition to any team looking to bolster their all-round options.

Jimmy Neesham has played in 60 T20 International matches and scored 688 runs with an average of 22.19 and a strike rate of over 159. He has also showcased his bowling skills in ODIs with 69 wickets and 25 wickets in T20Is.
