Glenn Maxwell’s outrageous reverse sweep SIX

MI vs RCB IPL 2021: Million-dollar purchase from RCB has finally paid-off. Glenn Maxwell is back to his absolute best. After a disappointing few season with KXIP, Maxwell has found purple patch with RCB. In his first match ever for the franchise, he scored 39 runs off just 28 balls, including an outrageous reverse sweep SIX. This marvelous shot from the Big Show has certainly impressed the RCB fans.

The incident happened in the first ball of the 12^th over. MI leg spinner Rahul Chahar bowled a leg break outside the leg stump. It was a perfectly planned delivery as there was a fielder placed at deep point. But all those didn’t mattered for Glenn Maxwell. He reverse slogged the ball and top edged it for a SIX.

He came into bat quite early on in the innings after the wicket of Sundar and Patidar. He along with Kohli, forged a 50-run partnership, which included a well made 39 of 28 from him. This short, yet crisp innings will come in as a relief for Maxwell, as he is yet to stamp his authority on this competition. Despite the hefty price tags on every auction, he has never been quite able to set the tournament on fire. Moreover, he didn’t even score a single six in the last edition of the tournament. The fact that he was able to hit two maximums in his first ever match for RCB is bound to improve his confidence.

RCB registers their first win of IPL 2021

Chasing a score of 160 runs set by Mumbai Indians, RCB found their way out only in the last ball of the match. As usual, the Superman AB De Villiers starred with the bat for RCB. He scored 48 runs of 27 balls, that too in the last phase of the innings, to take RCB home. Both Maxwell and Kohli also contributed with the bat by scoring 39 and 33 runs respectively. With this win, RCB registered their first win of IPL 2021, and their first win in six games at Chepauk.
